Again, it has been ages that I wrote here. Mortly because I was really busy at work during the wekes and also on the weekends. The last two weekends were filled with playoing Ultimate Frisbee first in Stockholm – a serious European Championship qualification tournament – and now in Grenoble – a fun and nicely-spirited proper Ultimate tournament. Stockholm was very high intensity and high level sports while sportsmanship sometimes unfortunately sometimes suffered because of that. Grenoble was my first turnament uoutside of Scandinavia and is supposed to be one of the best-spirited tournaments and it really was. So I finally found a term for my condition: Global Nomadic Expatriate. I had been thinking of my nomadic life-style for a while now. Recent activities like social networks, travelling and meeting new people, the Uefa EURO 2008 in Austria/Switzerland and other things made more people than ever refer to me as “the Austrian”, asking me wether I’d be cheering for Germany, when I will go back to Austria and so on. Usually I would reply that “I don’t know when I will go back. Hopefully I don’t have to.”, “I don’t feel like an Austrian, maybe like a European, but actually more just like a human.” and “My home is where my shoes are.” along the lines of “Ubi bene, ibi patria.” — read more ›

So my mobile phone display broke – I do not know why. In any case it is a blessing from heaven as I wanted to get rid of my mobile phones for quite some while. Now I have a reason to try to live without and see how I manage. :) — read more ›

In the UK I had the chance to drop by HMV to look for records. Unsuspicious I was going through some of the world music and found a new Putumayo Presents CD. Well, I found quite a few, that I did not know yet, but I just ended up buying one called “Caribbean” with Soca and Reggae. To my positive surprise parts of the money goes to Yéle Haiti, a movement for bringing hope to Haiti, spearheaded by Wyclef Jean. — read more ›
