So I wrecked my beloved Mac once again – luckily enough only in terms of Software… It all started with a buggy Safari (WebKit) after updating to 10.4.10 and it only got worse and worse. Re-applying the update destroyed my system installation. Re-installing the system destroyed the user/network settings due to space reasons. Re-importing my settings and files after install (and update of SafariPlus, which was the reson for Safari crashes) removed them from the FileVault but did not put them into my home folder. Unfortunately this affected pretty much except of my LIbrary and Pictures, which I – due to size reasons – moved last. So all my data was gone. Well, luckily enough I started using Mozy to have free encrypted online backups. Unfortunately, I did not store everything there and also did the backup first seem to not be accessible. But now, finally, I can access it and download my data files. Luckily enough I could also still restore many files from the disk image with Data Rescue II, but the file structure is gone, which would leave me with tons of work (and just a patchwork as result).
So now I hope that I will some time later have all my files back again. The lessons learned:
May the allmighty backup be with you.
I am your father! huuuuu haaaaa ~
My father?
You don’t know this famous sentence? It’s from Star Wars. Darth Vader told Luke Skywalker that “I am your father” and Luke shocked with this. There are many movie parody with this scene. I guess that “I am your father” is the second frequent used words (next to “May the force be with you”) from this movie I guess.
(To avoid your confusion) Then, I am your mother. :-P
But “Huuuuuu Haaaaaa” should be same. It’s Darth Vader’s breathing sound. ha ha ha
…thanks for the explanation… I almost would have died ignorant. ;)
So far I understood the idea of “Luke, I’m your father..:” but what I did not understand is the contextual relevance of that statement. Or to put it differently: What is the inspiration for that statement? :)
Hi,
First of all, there is no relevance at all between the context and my comment. Whenever I remind the Star Wars, I always remind the words “Luke, I am your father” maybe because I have watched too many funny parodies of this scene. Now it’s not possible to not remind it. :-)
Second, you are not ignorant. Maybe you are not a generation of (original) Star Wars. Maybe you are Star Wars Episode generation I guess ;-) that’s why you don’t know. :-)
One of the parody.
