Another great post by Seth Godin. The only thing I would like to add is that it is not only true for marketeers. Anybody working has some responsibility to carry and if you cannot put your name under what you produced, you should not produce it.
The problem is that besides the money you get for the work you produce you also spend a crucial time of your life on this work. If you create something counter-productive, your loss is double: The loss of making something bad and the loss of time that you could have used to make something good.
So step up and consider if the thing that you are doing really will have a good impact on society. No matter what you do, any small portion has an effect.
