iPhone

Sorry, but I am too much of a Mac geek to not shout it out (and show off) that I had the chance to touch the iPhone and play around with it. :)

*phew* It is definitely the nicest phone I have seen…. so far. It is not perfect – well, Apple never ever made perfect products, there needs to be a few smaller annoyances in every product for it to be from Apple so that you’ll get into this “shall I or shall I not” dilemma. ;)

It is amazingly snappy, bright, colourful and gorgeous in any other way – the Heidi Klum of mobile phones. ;) For those who still haven’t got an answer on the same questions that I had (my answers based on 5min of playing):

  • No, it does not use triangulation data for Google Maps
  • Typing seems to work reasonably fine. My T610i with suitable T9 was maybe a bit faster, but typing felt far faster than any phone I used lately.
  • Flick-scrolling is nice! :)
  • Pinching is not so nice. Well, the gesture is great but the wrong way round. You will more often zoom in and that gesture of moving fingers apart is – at least for me – more difficult than moving together. But this might be only me (having troubles with the iPod click-wheel too). Still, I think that it should have been inverted.
  • Rotating is cool but does not always work perfectly. But I guess you can learn that.

So my conclusion is that it is an awsome device… probably the gadget of the year 2007. And I am also sure that it is usable. If I’d need a phone and had the extra money I’d buy it but like this I guess I’ll wait a bit until it gets better still. However, I would not be able to resist as long as I resisted to buy an iPod. ;)

The nicest phone you’ve seen? Wow I can’t wait to try by myself. I always amazed by Apple’s design since when I saw first macintosh in the shop in elementary school student.
