This weekend Prof. Muhammad Yunnus and the Garmeen Bank are awarded with the Nobel Peace Price here in Oslo. Police and security forces around town and CNN reporting and interviewing live out of the City Hall, form the very same tiles I have walked on… funny thought.
Even more important, the interview is really interesting with Prof. Yunnus claiming that instead of giving money to the governments of developing countries, we should give it to the people there supporting them to build business. A true word with the only problem of getting to know honorable local people that are willing to build up resepctable and altrusitic businesses. Still, my biggest respect for him and let’s hope that he manages to convince more people to help to create a more balanced and developed world.
PS: Really interesting how he rebutts the interviewer’s question of “If you’d run for president in Bangladesh in January, you would win. Do you have any plans?” with the words: “Politics is not only about popularity.”
