So, another week’s over and a new one’s soon begun… well, this week was mainly busy with updating my CV for now. I’m really glad about the shorter and more concise result.
Then, on Tuesday and Wednesday there was CHARM, the Chalmers job fair. Third time that I was at such a thing here in Sweden and as every year it is rather annoying to go there. It’s not the seeking (need of finding) a job that is exhausting, but the what-do-you-want-here?-attitude of most of the companies. Mainly big companies confirmed it also this year again. Statements like “Go on our web page http://www.ourGreatCompany.com/jobs and look around there and register yourself there.” are just useless. Sure, there’s the big companies one hardly would reject to work for, but still they should show interest and even more importantly: PROVIDE AN ADVANTAGE IF YOU TALK TO THEM!!! I mean, I also know that there are these sites and that I can register myself and then rotten away in a database somewhere, but that won’t give me a job. I am motivated and have drive. I have no problem to work for getting a decent job in an interested and interesting company. So provide personal contact in these fairs. Get HR pros there, that exactly know what people a company needs. Let them make instant interviews – a first round to see if the people approaching them are useful. Well, a few companies seemed interested and asked me to make proposals and so on, something that I am glad to do since it seems really worth it. Well, the summary is that there was 2 interesting companies amongst all >250. Further more I had an interesting chat with a guy from the European Patent Office whose arguments for the job were that “you earn well, and you have flexible working hours and loads of holiday/spare time”. That were really convincing arguments for a good job. ;)

Then there was also Valentine’s Day. many people claim that it is just a commercial day and useless. However this year I disagree… usually I tended to send a couple of SMS to good female friends of mine but I never really had a Valentine. So this year having one (well you all are free to guess) made it better than the ones before. :) Went after us making a crooked (that was me) vegetarian lasagne out dancing to the CHARM party – nice party with three dance floors. Did a lot of dancing (yes, that was serious fun) until the end; Pieter was also there with us and also had a nice time. :)
Wednesday then was a user testing at a local small but interesting software company. Was the first time that I saw such a thing IRL (you know). Was pretty giving to see the pros and how such a thing goes along. And I got two free tickets! :D
Thursday then was TredjeTorsdagen and some other Interaction Designers to meet. Was less formal than I thought and interesting to chat some other young and motivated people.
Today, Friday it started snowing again. So that’s really nice and even though spring is coming (it’s not that cold anymore – around zero) there is some fresh snow. I really want to use the weekend to take some more pictures. :)
