interaction of online credit card payments

Is it just me who thinks that credit cards loose their value when you are not able to pay with them anymore? The banks obviously call it “increased security standards”.

The example of the Swedish Railways is only one of those that only accept the credit card of one country. Why do I then need a credit card I asked. The newest “improvement” by my bank is now that you cannot pay online with your credit card only. Instead, you need to generate a security code with the login-generator for my e-banking. Does it really make things more secure if I either can only pay on the internet if you sit at home or carry the e-banking login generator everywhere around with you?

Again an example of a bad solution to security issues.
