back again…sorry for delay

Tags:

Hello again, sorry for this delay of I-don’t-know-how-many days. But I was rather busy. For once I am really glad to not being busy with only school work, even though there was enough for that to do as well… Well, a short almost-chronological listing comes here:

After my first capoeira training my muscles were hurting for more than three days, which was why I decided to continue there. Today will be training number four and it’s real fun. Even though I feel a bit of pressure to improve, what I’m not sure that I do since I only train once per week, but well, I do it for me so I don’t need to care what people there are thinking.

Then there was Chalmers Big Jump Open, a freestyle ski (and snowboard) jumping contest. Well, was quite fun to go there and watch, even if Pieter and I did not win the snowboard we wanted to win. D’oh. ;) Btw, we were pretty late there since the door to our bike storage was frozen due to the lot of snow (~10cm which is a lot for GBG). In the evening there was a really nice but expensive afterparty with live Reggae and then a Dancehall, Reggaeton, Reggea club. Was real fun going out with Pieter, Beth and Micke.

A couple of days later I finally met Jetske (Pieter’s Peter’s really nice friend) again, she was coming over with the second dutch girl to our house for dinner (Pizza) before their common Swedish class. It was really nice and a lot of cheese. :) Later that evening we went to the student club, a nice party every Wednesday. One that I did not attend for ages. Met Hanna there as well, was pretty surprised, but she was just there for getting to know her new fellow nurse-students (“nollning”). Too bad we didn’t stay too long there, but still it was fun going out dancing with the Dutch connection.

The days after the weather turned pretty nice with loads of snow and the Stena Bulk ship (you can see in the pictures) was in the harbour and we spent some time getting nice pictures. On friday we went bowling with the class and it was really cool. I even won the competition for the least points :) After that we went for some beers and had some interesting conversations with people from our program.

Saturday I finally managed to meet Jetske for the “coffee” which was a couple of teas. Before that was the project kick-off for our project course with Gustaf and Jon and Tachos. So I was a bit late again. However, she did not mind so we took a teas at home first and then went for a photography walk through the town. Around 0100 we then went for the only open café (TinTin – a 24h café) and stayed there for ages… It was great. Well, she should for a film at 1000 the next day, so she didn’t get so much sleep when we left at 0600 and I brought her to the bus. It was a lovely night.

Sunday and Monday I cannot really remember, probably because I mosly spent Sunday sleeping and having the last time Salsa course. Monday evening I then got visit by a confused lady at 0100 o’clock. As always I had my door open and suddenly an African girl knocks my door and asks me “‘cuse me, can you help me, please” which made me turn around and stand up and say “Hi” and her answering with “Who are you?” and running confused behind my corridor door. Well, she was really afraid, and said a lot of strange loosely-coupled but not contradicting stuff like that her friends are after her and other stuff. Well, since I did not know how to handle the situation (that was somehow weird) I woke up Beth who has a bit more experience and was more into the domain. We then ended calling the police – the lady was OK with that – and they took her to a place to get a taxi home. Ringed her stepfather the other day and her the day after and seems like she was doing at least a bit better, but still not good. Freaky experience though.

Tuesday I then had a “short tea” with Jetske. Really nice, but ended later than expected. In good company the time flies by. So I ended up going home to finish the paper revisions (for SIDeR 06) that had a deadline and to read the texts for the next days – really boring – literature seminar.

After that time flew by. Needed some sleep again, worked on my CV in order to be ready for CHARM to fins a place to do the thesis and so on.

Friday was a great live concert then at Nefertiti, where Tiia (the Finnish girl living in my room before me) had one spare ticket. I’m so glad that I went there since it was incredibly good. It was Jaqee with band giving a great performance in the style of a early Lauryn Hill. Great music, great voice, great band, great experience. Bought the CD. Later Pieter, Jetske and Geerte came there as well – also met another girl I knew from earlier but she left to go to another club – to enjoy some hours of house music. Well, I got tired some time then, since I have to realise that I’m not 18 anymore and because of 4 hours of House being exhausting.

Next day (saturday) I went for a run, the first time after a while. Went OK, still tired from the night before and a bit out of shape. But I decided that I gotta do more for my shape in order to shrink my belly-size a bit again. So I ran for 40 minutes, went pretty well and I enjoyed the feeling of tiredness afterwards. Then met Jetske again for a drink and a chat. Again a really nice evening and again getting up late on Sunday and going for the last possible film at Gothenburg’s Film Festival called “Sleeper”. Interesting topic but I think that the presentation of that was not too good. Anyway, the ticket was by far too expensive (more than a normal ticket due to the mandatory Film Festival ticket we had to buy) and then had a coffee with Gustaf and his girlfriend after the film. That’s what weekends are for, right? :)

So there is the start of this week, nothing too exciting. Courses are OK, the exercises start to suck, we want to start the projects and weather became crap with temperatures around
zero and sun, which means that the snow melts and freezes to ice… really nice for biking. :) After fixing my bike for a couple of times it is soon again time to replace the breaks just because of that stupid weather and the sand on the streets wearing off the rubber from my brakes… well well, right now they still kinda work. :)

Ok, that’s it so far… gotta start to read now for tomorrows lecture and my CV is still a construction site. I’ll try to write next time earlier. Enjoy!

Mheep, mheep.
