about being self critical

Tags:

A good friend, who sent me some really long mail that are lying in my inbox waiting for being replied on, told me: “Don’t worry. I know that you are busy and that’s why I don’t expect you to answer. Just don’t worry about it.”

And my reply was something along these lines: “You know me. I know that I shouldn’t worry. But I still do.”

And the irony about the whole thing is actually that as long as you do worry about taking your time and sending that reply you really do not need to worry. But as soon as you do not worry about it, you actually should.

IMHO this applies to pretty much a lot of things that concern your private development as a person. So feeling bad and having a guilty conscience is actually often the better option.

    a) you really shouldn’t worry

    b) you really shouldn’t be so hard on yourself

    c) yes I will continue to say this, for as long as you continue to disagree with me.

    d) no you don’t need to reply to this because I know.
